Which of the following rivalries is the biggest in football:

Real MadrId-Barcelona
Liverpool-Manchester United
Boca Juniors-River Plate
Celtic-Rangers
Roma-Lazio
Olympiacos-Panathinaikos

Predictably I'm going for Celtic-Rangers. It's a rivalry which originates from religion. On another forum I go on somebody said they were a Chelsea fan but they still wanted United to go through to the next stage of the CL because they were representing the UK. He then asked me if I want Celtic to progress as they are also representing the UK. I replied "are you having a laugh!". Scottish football is also a lot more passionate than it is in England.

same here, its goes alot deeper than just football, but for me i dont let religion and politics rule who i support, even though i do like it when rangers lose, but south American derbies are also very passionate and can lead to violence.

Has to be boca and river. when ever they play a match there is always trouble. i have heard that a player missed a pen and cost them the game once and then he was killed. thats mad.

also a river fan went to get a tattoo of the badge on his head, weird place i know. the person who was doing the tattoo was a boaca fan so insted of putting the river badge on, he put a huge dick on his head. class

I voted for Boca Juniors and River Plate..

reason being, have you ever seen the fans clashing with each other ? it gets to the point where fans are killing each other and players punching each other like they are hooligans, its big time bad !

But you have missed Huddersfield and Sadford !

I too have gone for Boca – River Plate, I know about the deep seated religious bigotry that’s called Celtic – Rangers rivalry, but the Boca – River Plate thing is based on Money, can’t remember which way round it is, but one set of fans are loaded, the other set are little more than peasants, the rivalry is deep seated and often leads to violence!
