Undoubtedly yes, as I support non league Morecambe I stand at every match. At every away match with seating we have stood despite the unhappy stewards.

You can't realistcally bang a drum sat down or really get involved with the signing in the same way. Seating kills the atmosphere.

I had that before,

I don't really care as I stand all 90 minutes at every game even though its seating. Don't care what stewards say. They may come up and make us sit down, but we usually then follow up a chant 'Stand up if you hate the L**ds' So we stand up.

Love standing though but only 3 grounds in League 1 with terraces. Brentford, Chesterfield and Yeovil.

There was once a crowd in excess of 64000 at the old Leeds Road ground, without a disaster!

And as for a lanky man, well, you just move!

Yes, bring it back!

This is a yes and no question which is hard to answer!!

NO because being in charge of fans that stand carries alot of potential problems that can and do happen during a match its a nightmare !

and YES because when i go to matches that i can actually enjoy myself and not be working i dont sit down and if stewards tell me too i dont listen there was so much more atmosphere at games when it was terraces, but then again there was so much more trouble and disasters too..!!!

Standing is the best way to see football.

Also the disasters where in a different age, when the clubs weren't so safety conscious i reckon it would be much safer now

Yes, but having all seated stadiums leads to problems for the stewards anyway, take me, I prefer to stand, but being a cantankerous Old Git, as I’ve paid for a seat, I take offence to people in front of me standing, it’s what I was saying, on the old terraces, if someone was blocking you view, you just moved to a better vantage point, you can’t do that with seats everywhere.
Remember, when I started going, there was little segregation in grounds, let alone seating, we used to watch from the old Popular Terrace at Leeds Road, then move to the Cow Shed behind the goals, depending on which way Town were playing. And, has as already been said, most of the problems on the terrace were not down to the fans, sadly, the authorities used the like of Hillsborough as an excuse to push changes through, which many people still don’t like. It’s one of the reasons I like going to places like Farsley, Harrogate and Canvey, it’s much more fun to stand!

Funnily enough, when the Missus started going to game, I started sitting down, I didn’t think she’d want to stand, the first time she stood at a game, in The Cow Shed, was the last ever game at Leeds Road, (a game to which I took my late father, nice symmetry I thought), she went mental, she wouldn’t talk to me for days for not taking her in there before! (Still, at least it was peaceful!)
